» USTA League Tennis

This is a mixed doubles league for men and women 18 years of age or older by year-end 2012.  League season is March - May (Saturdays).  The NTRP levels of play are straight 2.5 and combined 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and 10.0.  The NTRP difference between doubles partners may not exceed 1.0, and the combined NTRP level of the doubles partners may not exceed the level at which the team is competing (i.e., 7.0 doubles partners could be a combination of two 3.5 players, or a 4.0 player with a 3.0 partner, or a 3.0 player with a 3.5 partner).

Players with expired ratings will not be allowed to self-rate at a lower level than their last valid NTRP rating.  However, they will have the opportunity to file a self-rate appeal.  See ODTA Rules & Regulations below for changes affecting players 70 years of age or older, and players with Tournament Exclusive ratings.

A team match consists of (3) mixed doubles matches. The match format is: Best of two sets, regular scoring, set tiebreak (first to 7 by a margin of 2) at 6-all, with a match tiebreak (first to 10 by a margin
of 2) in lieu of a third set. The switching of sides for service during any tiebreak shall follow the Coman TieBreak Procedure.
The minimum number of players on a team is 3 men and 3 women, maximum 14 players. League fee is $23 per player.

NEW 2012 Flight Playoff Competition Format
Flight playoffs will be single elimination when there are two or more flights in a playing level.  Teams will advance to flight playoffs according to the following:
  • When there are two or four flights in a level, first and second place teams will advance to the flight playoff.

  • When there are three flights in a level, second place teams will first play a round-robin and the winner of the round robin will advance to flight playoff with the first place teams.

  • First and second place teams will be randomly matched up in the flight playoff schedule, however, a second place team will not be matched up against the first place team of its flight.

  • The individual match scoring for flight playoffs will be the same as used for local league competition.
Note: Head-to-head will still be used as the first of the procedures applied in the event of a tie between teams in a flight. (Oahu leagues only.) Click on the Captain & Player Toolkit below for Head-to-Head Tie Break Procedures FAQ.
