This is a mixed doubles league for men and women 18 years of age or older by end of league year.  League season is July - October (Saturdays*).  The NTRP levels of play are combined 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and 10.0.  The NTRP difference between doubles partners may not exceed 1.0, and the combined NTRP level of the doubles partners may not exceed the level at which the team is competing (i.e., 7.0 doubles partners could be a combination of two 3.5 players, or a 4.0 player with a 3.0 partner, or a 3.0 player with a 3.5 partner).

A team match consists of: (1) men's doubles; (1) women's doubles and (1) mixed doubles matches. The match format is: Best of two sets, regular scoring, set tiebreak (first to 7 by a margin of 2) at 6-all, with a match tiebreak (first to 10 by a margin of 2) in lieu of a third set. The switching of sides for service during any tiebreak shall follow the Coman Tiebreak Procedure.

Move Up/Split Up: 2017 Ekolu League section champions must move up one level as a team or disperse to form new teams with no more than three players who were on the final roster at the conclusion of local league play on any single team for the 2018 Ekolu league season. Refer to HPS Rules & Regulations 2.06A

The minimum number of players on a team is 3 men and 3 women, maximum 16 playersThe League fee is $28 per player.

Major Regulation Change

Team Match USTA 2.01C(2); ODTA 22) For each team match, a majority of the individual matches (positions) must actually be played to constitute a valid team match. If one team does not have the minimum number of players, the opposing team will be credited with a total team default, and will win each individual match 6-0 6-0. If neither team has the required minimum number of players, the match shall be scored as a double team default, and neither team will receive credit for a win. 

In the case of an entire team default or double team default any individual matches actually played cannot count for determining standings.

Reminders to Captains & Players

  1. Withholding pertinent information when self-rating is an egregious act and a violation of National Regulation 1.04E(4) (Player Agreement) and can lead to consequences. Sanctions may include suspension from USTA League Tennis for the captain, player and team. Captains do not self-rate players. Players should do their own self-rating according to the General & Experienced Player Guidelines.

  2. No coaching allowed at any time during a match.  Cell phones and other electronic communication devices may not be used at any time during a match (including warm-up, change-overs and set breaks). ODTA League Rules & Regulations 21

  3. For each team match, a majority of the individual matches (positions) must actually be played to constitute a valid team match.   4. Warning: Captains and players can be sanctioned for falsifying USTA League match scores and/or reporting matches in TennisLink that were not actually played.  Individuals found in violation can receive sanctions that include being denied the opportunity to advance to championships, suspension from USTA League play and captains being prohibited from captaining teams.  This is a recreational league and unethical and unsportsmanlike behavior of any individuals associated with USTA League Tennis will not be tolerated. HPS Player Guide; ODTA Rules & Regulations 26


League Timeline 

  • Team Registration:  May 28 - June 28 at 6pm.
    On-Line Team Creation allows captains to register and obtain a team number from TennisLink.  To find out how to obtain your team number, click here to print the TennisLink instructions.  Non-playing captains and captains who choose not to use On-Line Team Creation can complete the Team Number Request form and email to the Coordinator.  Click here to complete the form. Note: Use Internet Explorer or Google Chrome (the form is not compatible with MS Edge).
  • Player Registration on TennisLink:  May 28 - July 27 at 6pm.
    Requests for deadline extension should be emailed to the Coordinator before July 27  Notify the Coordinator of any player whose self-rating or medical appeal decision is pending.
  • Minimum Roster Deadline:  July 2 - (3) men and (3) women.
    No transfers of players between teams after this date.  Requests for deadline extension should be emailed to the Coordinator before July 2.
  • Reserve A Court Deadline: July 2.  Court Usage fee $50
