2013 ADULT 55 & OVER MEN

League season is March - May (Sundays) for players 55 years of age or older by year-end.  The NTRP levels of play are combined 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0.  The NTRP difference between doubles partners may not exceed 1.0, and the combined NTRP level of the doubles partners may not exceed the level at which the team is competing (i.e., 7.0 doubles partners could be a combination of two 3.5 players, or a 4.0 player with a 3.0 partner, or a 3.0 player with a 3.5 partner). 

Players with expired ratings will not be allowed to self-rate at a lower level than their last valid NTRP rating.  However, they will have the opportunity to file a self-rate appeal.  See ODTA Rules & Regulations below for changes affecting players 70 years of age or older, and players with Mixed Exclusive or Tournament Exclusive ratings.

For 2013 only, Move-Up/Split Up will not apply to 2012 adult, senior and super senior national championship teams that form new teams in the Adult 55 & Over league.  2013 USTA League Major Regulation Changes for 2013.

A team match consists of (3) doubles matches.  The match format is: Best of two sets, regular scoring, set tiebreak (first to 7 by a margin of 2) at 6-all, with a match tiebreak (first to 10 by a margin of 2) in lieu of a third set. The switching of sides for service during any tiebreak shall follow the Coman TieBreak Procedure.
The minimum number of players on a team is 6, maximum 14 players.  League fee is $23 per player.   _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
2013 Flight Playoff Competition Format
Flight playoffs will be single elimination when there are two or more flights in a playing level.  Teams will advance to flight playoffs according to the following:
  • When there are two or four flights in a level, first and second place teams will advance to the flight playoff.

  • When there are three flights in a level, second place teams will first play a round-robin and the winner of the round robin will advance to flight playoff with the first place teams.

  • Single Elimination Flight Playoff Semi Final Matches will be scheduled as follows:

    Two Flights (4 teams) - First place team of Flight A will play second place team of Flight B; first place team of Flight B will play second place team of Flight A.

    Three Flights (4 teams) - The three first place teams and the winner of the round-robin (see preceding bullet) will be randomly matched up, however, the second place team will not be matched up against the first place team of its flight.

    Four Flights (8 teams) - The four first place teams will be randomly matched up against the four second place teams, however, a second place team will not be matched up against the first place team of its flight.

  • Final & Consolation Rounds.  The winners of the semi final rounds will advance to the final round to determine the District Flight Champion.  New The non-winning teams in the semi final rounds will playoff for 3rd and 4th place.
  • The individual match scoring for flight playoffs will be the same as used for local league competition.

League Timeline 
  • Team Registration:  January 11 - February 11 at 6pm.
    On-Line Team Creation allows captains to register and obtain a team number from TennisLink.  To find out how to obtain your team number, click

  • Player Registration:  January 11 - March 16 at 6pm.
    Requests for deadline extension should be emailed to the Coordinator before March 16.  Notify the Coordinator of any player whose self-rating or medical appeal decision is pending.
  • Minimum Roster Deadline:  February 15 - 6 players.
    No transfers of players between teams after this date.  Requests for deadline extension should be emailed to the Coordinator before February 15.
  • Reserve A Court Deadline:  February 15
